Dwight Franklin was an early master of the box diorama—he began modelling in 1913—whose historical scenes could be seen on display in a number of prestigious museums, including New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Children’s Museum in Brooklyn, the museum at the University of Illinois, and the French War Museum in Paris. In addition to the images below, be sure to read his 1923 article on his work from International Studio.
