Mike Blank - The End of All Dreams
Mike won top accolades for this box at World Expo 2005. These in-progress photos and the following paragraph were part of his postings to the PlanetFigure Web site when he was working on the project.
The scene is based on a painting by the Swedish artist C G Cederström and depicts the day after king Charles XII has been shot during a siege at Halden in Norway in 1719. In the background we can see the dead king, and in the foreground his karoliner soldiers are morning their beloved king (who they whorshipped). We can almost feel the sadness and sorrow as we study the expressions and body language of this very emotional scene. I have here included some in-progress photos of this project... hope you guys will be able to see some resemblance to the painting!
